Thank You

Thank You To Our Summer 2008 Prayer Team — All 250!
What a difference your prayers made! Over 250 people around our region in fact the nation committed to pray every day during our Summer 2008 camps… and God answered your prayers. If you were on this team… we thank you so much. You were our extended staff team, and we saw and experienced the power of your prayers.

Lifeguards Needed

Christian lifeguards are in high demand these days. Last summer GHLC received a number of calls from other Christian camps looking for lifeguards.

Are you interested in working at a summer camp in the future?
Do you have particular interest in swimming activities?

If so, we would encourage you to call the Fredericton Indoor Pool or YMCA for information on their training sessions. Having these skills will open up lots of opportunities!

Repairing the Original Cabins

Prior to the beginning of the last phase of development, some of the work on the site focused on up-grading the exterior of the original cabins (roofs, doors, windows and siding were replaced). No improvements were made to the interiors. The time has now come for the interior of these cabins to be brought up to code for both the safety and comfort of guests and staff.

The original cabins must be renovated so that they meet current government, industry, environmental, parental, and camper expectations. The work will include: insulating; up-grading the electrical; new wall board; flooring; and new beds. The total cost per cabin (including much of the *labour) will be $8500. There are 11 cabins which must be refurbished.

*Specific labour costs not part of the noted amount include man-power for demolition work, painting, and bunk bed construction.

Churches within the camp’s family are being encouraged to become actively involved by pledging an amount per year [such as $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000] for a two (2) year period. There are many ways a church may want to go about raising the funds. Some may prefer to make it a special item within their church mission’s budget; others may prefer designating a special offering; still others may prefer the approach of a fund-raising project.

Some churches may want to take on the cost of an entire cabin, and others may prefer to join efforts with churches in their area and take on a cabin as a group project. Regardless of the approach, every gift counts towards completing the task.

The Board would like to ask you to consider how your church might become involved in helping us meet the goal of repairing the original cabins.
